What this app is
BecomeBulgarian teaches Bulgarian to people who have already moved here — the sentences you need at the pharmacy, the town hall and the corner shop, rather than a grammar course. It is built for people who find conventional language apps hard going, so everything is short, spoken and repeatable.
It is in beta. Things will be missing and things will break. Telling us is genuinely useful.
Getting help
Write to [email protected]. One person reads that inbox, so replies are not instant, but every message gets one.
What helps us fix it faster:
- Your phone or tablet, and its OS version.
- The app version, shown at the bottom of Settings.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see.
The app contains no crash-reporting SDK, so nothing reaches us automatically. If it crashed and you do not tell us, we will not know.
Deleting your account
You can do this yourself. You do not have to ask us.
- In the app — on the account holder's own profile: Settings, scroll to the bottom, Delete account. You confirm by typing DELETE, and with your password if you signed up with one. On another profile, switch to the account holder's first.
- On this website — sign in, then Account → Your data.
- By email — write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with, and we will do it for you.
Closing your account removes every profile on it, your sentences and their audio, the recordings of your own voice, your teacher reviews, your practice history, streaks and statistics, your preferences, your consent records, anything you sent us through support, and the sign-in itself. It is immediate, and it cannot be undone. Encrypted nightly backups roll off on their own schedule — about 120 days at the latest. If you have done paid contributor work for us, those records are kept and your sign-in is anonymised instead; the privacy policy explains why.
The beta builds
On iPhone and iPad the beta runs through TestFlight. On Android it is a Google Play internal test. Both are invitation-only while the beta runs. The download page has the list to join, and a browser version you can try without installing anything.
TestFlight builds expire ninety days after they are uploaded. If the app refuses to open and TestFlight offers no update, that is usually why — tell us and we will push a fresh build.
